THINGS TO CONSIDER before LVP Installation...

Choosing the right materials and details ahead of time can make

a big difference in the look, performance, and longevity of

your new floors. At Digby Flooring, Dave is always happy to guide
you through these decisions to ensure the best results for your space.

LVP Flooring Options

Luxury vinyl plank comes in a variety of thicknesses, wear layers, and locking systems. Thicker planks with a higher wear layer are typically more durable and better suited for high-traffic areas, rentals, or households with pets.

Underlayment

Some LVP products come with an attached pad, while others require a separate underlayment. The right choice depends on your subfloor condition, moisture levels, and sound reduction needs.

Floor Preparation

A smooth, level subfloor is essential for a successful installation. Any uneven areas or subfloor damage should be addressed beforehand to avoid issues down the road.

Transitions & Thresholds

Transitions and thresholds are used where your new flooring meets other surfaces (such as tile, carpet, or doorways). Choosing the correct type ensures a clean, safe, and professional finish.

Baseboards & Trim

You’ll need to decide whether to reuse existing baseboards, replace them, or install new ones. Removing and reinstalling baseboards often provides the best finished look, but new baseboards can completely refresh a space.
